The present work is related with the analysis of the territorial organization of medieval settlement of Castro el Viejo, a small hill-top village and castle set in the southeastern countryside of the present province of Córdoba (near the villages of Baena and Castro del Río) which remained inhabited between the 13th and 16th centuries. First, it reviews the research conducted on this settlement, actually known as Torreparedones, during the last decades. Then, it studies their integration as fortification in the fortified net of Castilian-nasri border in southern Córdoba. Finally, it examines the organization of the jurisdictional term and major inhabited sites of their environment.
