La traducción en ciencias experimentales: medicina cuántica

Abstract

En el presente trabajo, nos gustaría exponer las dificultades de documentación y traducción existentes dentro del campo de las ciencias experimentales. La expresión alemana “Quantenlogische Medizin” vierte en español gran variedad de expresiones, tales como Medicina cuantológica, un posible calco del alemán; medicina cuántica, ciencia sobre la que existe poca documentación en español; medicina antropológica, o también llamada biomedicina y medicina psicosomática. Ante esta situación, el traductor ha de investigar cada uno de dichos conceptos para, en primer lugar, poder comprender el tema objeto de su traducción y, en segundo lugar, utilizar la terminología adecuada en español. En estas situaciones, el traductor ha de ser especialmente cuidadoso en su elección terminológica, ya que posiblemente sentará las bases de dicha ciencia en español.

In the current work, we would like to show the main problems of documentation and translation when we work within experimental sciences. The German expression “Quantenlogische Medizin” is translated into Spanish in different ways such as medicina cuantológica, which might be a loan translation from German; medicina cuántica, a science with a few documentation in Spanish; medicina antropológica or biomedicine and medicina psicosomática. In this situation the translator should investigate each one of these concepts in order to know – firstly – the topic he is going to translate, and – secondly – how to use the right terminology in Spanish. In these kinds of situations, the translator has to be very careful in selecting the terms as he/she might establish a precedent of this science in Spanish.
