From his early youth Maimonides had for aim to apply rationality using Aristotelian logic.
He brings the allegorical interpretation to tthe biblical text when he is right; systematizes the chaotic legal-religious casuistry of the Oral or traditional Law as a whole and establishes thirteen dogmas for the Jewish religion. It neatly separates popular belief from intellectual speculation. There is a duality between the religious judge and the rationalist thinker, perhaps due to problems from his childhood.
