Las cisternas metalúrgicas de la Córdoba romana

Abstract

The metallurgical process requires to start from the purest metal extracts, being necessary the use of abundant water in order to separate the ore of the bargain by means of flotation. El proceso metalúrgico requiere partir de concentrados metálicos los más puros posibles, por lo que emplea abundante agua para separar la mena de la ganga por flotación. Los romanos hicieron uso de las cribas hidráulicas flotantes en el sur de Hispania. Dada la importancia crucial del líquido elemento en ésta y en sucesivas fases del proceso metalúrgico y la escasez de dicho recurso en una zona climática de precipitaciones irregulares, la infraestructura de acopio de agua se convirtió en imprescindible.
