Avance al estudio de un basurero de cerámica tardía en el entorno del Templo Romano de Córdoba

Abstract

In the archaeological campaign carried out at Calle María Cristina in Córdoba, behind the Great Roman Temple, a series of stratigraphic items were unearthed in 1994 and 1995 from what formed parí of a rubbish dump. This durnp contained numerous fragments of ceramic and building material in a very dark sediment resulting from decomposition organic matter. It has been dated somewhere between the end of 4th Century and the first half of 5th Century A. D. (JIMÉNEZ y RUIZ, 1994, 134). It is our aim to analyse in detail the ceramic samples taken from this deposit in the hope that it will permit us to understand what was produced in such a critical time for the Colonia Patricia. Below is a sample of this study.

En la intervención arqueológica desarrollada en la C/ María Cristina de Córdoba, a espaldas del gran templo romano, fueron excavadas durante 1994 y 1995 una serie de unidades estratigráficas que en su conjunto formaban parte de un basurero. Este basurero contenía numerosos fragmentos cerámicos y material constructivo en un sedimento muy oscuro proveniente de la descomposición de materia orgánica. Fue fechado grosso modo entre fines del siglo IV y la primera mitad del siglo V d.C. (JIMÉNEZ y RUIZ, 1994,134). Es nuestro objetivo analizar con detenimiento el material cerámico de dicho basurero con la intención de que nos sirva de modelo para comprender las producciones que estuvieron presentes en fechas tan críticas para la Colonia Patricia. Presentamos aquí un avance de dicho estudio.
