La estética barroca de Jesús Nazareno en la Semana Santa andaluza: tipología, atributos y representación

Abstract

El Nazareno se convirtió durante el Barroco en la referencia devocional del pueblo andaluz, siendo resultado de un complejo e interesante desarrollo estético que ha ido evolucionando con el paso de los siglos. La presencia de Jesús cargando con la cruz al hombro se ha extendido por la mayoría de las localidades desde finales del siglo XV hasta nuestros días, teniendo especial relevancia los siglos XVII y XVIII, donde adquirieron unas pautas de representación teatralizadas en sus salidas procesionales, así como nuevos atributos que ayudan a reforzar la visión divina de Jesús el Nazareno.

The Nazarene became during the Baroque in the devotional reference of the Andalusian people, being the result of a complex and interesting aesthetic development that has evolved over the centuries. The presence of Jesus carrying the cross on his shoulder has spread to most localities from the end of the 15th century to the present day, the 17th and 18th centuries having special relevance, where they acquired dramatized representation patterns in their processional outings, as well as new attributes that help reinforce the divine vision of Jesus the Nazarene.
