Las hermanas Gilart: unas bordadoras al servicio de su majestad

Abstract

El presente artículo tiene como objetivo rescatar del olvido a las hermanas Gilart, unas bordadoras mallorquinas que trabajaron en el segundo tercio del siglo XIX en Madrid, para la corte de S.M. la Reina Isabel II de España, y cuyo apellido se convirtió en sinónimo de calidad y de trabajo bien hecho. Prueba de ello son los mantos, vestidos, túnicas y demás prendas bordadas que fueron regaladas a imágenes de devoción de numerosos pueblos de la geografía española
