In this paper Stipa clausa Trab, is reiterated for the Spanish flora. The species belongs to the section Leiostipa Dumort, and is very common in the central and southern part of the Iberian Península, where its populations live together with those of S. juncea L. and S. lagascae Roem. & Schult. Two new taxa are also described for the Spanish flora: 5. clausa subsp. cazorlensis Vázq. Pardo & Devesa and S. clausa var. matritensis Vázq. Pardo & Devesa. Pardo & Devesa y S. clausa var. matritensis Vázq. Pardo & Devesa.
