Los mosaicos como fuente documental: nuevas perspectivas sobre mosaicos tardíos de Écija (ss. III-V)

Abstract

En este trabajo se lleva a cabo un estudio de corte socioeconómico e ideológico sobre la élite romana a partir del siglo III d.C., disponiendo en una primera instancia una contextualización general de las mismas, para luego, analizar sus espacios residenciales principales en la ciudad de Écija. Los restos decorativos de estas viviendas, concretamente, los musivos, nos servirán posteriormente para confeccionar un estudio analítico y comparativo con el que interpretar el pensamiento estético, la ideología y el mensaje que este revitalizado grupo quiso transmitir en el momento.

In this paper we carry out a socio-economic and ideological study of the Roman elite from the third century A.D. onwards, firstly providing a general contextualisation of them, and then analysing their main residential spaces in the city of Écija. The architectural vestiges of these houses, specifically the mosaics, will be used later to make an analytical and comparative study with which to interpret the aesthetic mindset, the ideology and the message that this revitalized group wanted to convey at the time.
