For the study the 150 staphylococcal strains —of human and animal origin¬it has been carried out the tests of mannitol (aerobic and anaerobic), DN-ase, coagulase, hemolysis and proteolytic activity on casein and gelatin. Throughout the work it has been seen that there is a significative difference between the proteolytic capacity of the DN-ase positive and DN-ase negative staphylococci. So, this evidence can be an early and interesting complementary test for the staphylococcal identification.
