Una oficina de mármol en Córdoba

Abstract

The exposure we show pretends to be a study advance about marmora we found during the archeological works in the old Faculty of Veterinary, in Córdoba, from October 2002 to September 2003. The introduction of marble in public and private architecture in Córdoba at the beginning of August's period supposed the apparition of specialized craftsmen in its carving and transformation.There is scarce information in Córdoba about marble shopfloors that would be placed in the capital of Baetica, that is because documentation in connection with this officina becomes a great discovery for the roman city research.

El trabajo que aquí presentamos pretende ser un avance del estudio de los marmora extraídos durante la intervención arqueológica llevada a cabo en la antigua Facultad de Veterinaria de Córdoba1 entre los meses de Octubre de 2002 y Septiembre de 2003 (Fig. 1), donde se ha localizado el anfiteatro de la ciudad romana, extramuros y apenas a 200 m de la antigua Puerta de Gallegos (MURILLO, 2003)
