Kurt Vonnegut: hacia una poética de la simplicidad

Abstract

El objetivo del presente trabajo es el de analizar en detalle el posicionamiento estético que adopta Kurt Vonnegut a lo largo de su prolija carrera literaria. En primer lugar se estudiará con detenimiento el contexto artístico y cultural en el que se inscribe el corpus del autor. Posteriormente, procederemos a analizar las entrevistas y “collages” literarios en los que el novelista de Indianápolis expresa su concepción de la obra de arte para, finalmente, considerar la obra póstuma Armageddon in Retrospect (2008), que nos resulta un colofón necesario. A pesar de que Vonnegut ha sido objeto de innumerables estudios críticos hasta el momento presente, el análisis que planteamos en el presente ensayo no ha sido aún llevado a cabo.

The aim of the present paper is to analyze in a detailed and careful way Kurt Vonnegut‟s aesthetic convictions. In order to achieve this goal I will first pay attention to the artistic and cultural context in which Vonnegut‟s corpus might be inscribed. As a second step, I will consider the many interviews in which the author expressed his point of view regarding aesthetics. Later on, I will move on to study the author‟s literary collages. Last, but not least, I will consider Vonnegut‟s posthumous work, Armageddon in Retrospect (2008). Besides the critical praise and interest that Vonnegut‟s corpus has attracted during the past decades, the critical analysis I do propose in this essay has not yet been accomplished.
