Tipología textual y traducción en el ámbito agroalimentario: definición del perfil y ejercicio profesional

Abstract

La traducción agroalimentaria se relaciona primordialmente con la industria de la alimentación y sus productos desde que se cultivan o crían hasta que llegan al consumidor, pasando por la producción, transformación, distribución y exportación de dichos productos (aceite, vino, productos cárnicos, etc.). Esta amplia temática es el objeto de gran variedad de textos: textos científico-técnicos (textos de tecnología e ingeniería alimentaria), textos bio-sanitarios (biotecnología, sanidad animal…), textos jurídicos (contratos de empresas, legislación alimentaria…), o textos humanístico-literarios (textos históricos, turísticos…) de temática agroalimentaria. El propósito del presente trabajo es llevar a cabo una recopilación de los distintos sectores y tipos de textos de temática agroalimentaria para obtener una visión general del ámbito de actuación del traductor agroalimentario. Así mismo, este estudio pretende realizar una investigación de los encargos reales de traducción que se suelen dar en nuestro entorno más cercano para intentar delimitar las competencias básicas que necesita el traductor y atisbar las posibles salidas profesionales.

The agricultural and food translation is related to the food industry and its products since they are cultivated or raised until the moment when the consumer receives them, including the production, transformation, distribution and exportation of those products (oil olive, wine, meats, etc.). In this field it is produced a wide range of texts about agriculture and food: scientific and technical texts –texts about technology or food engineering; medical texts (biotechnology, animal health…); legal texts (agreements, food legislation…); literary and humanistic texts (historic or tourism texts…). The purpose of this paper is obtaining an overview of the area in which the translator operates. For this, we will compile information and texts about text types in this field. We will focus on the translation and analysis of features and difficulties of each selected text typology. Also, we carry out a study about the translation jobs which take place in our closest environment, especially in agri-food exporter companies. The aim of this study is to detect the potential professional opportunities for translators and to conclude a real approach to the required competences and the tasks carried out by the agri-food translators.
