Los abecedarios íberos: cuestiones, paralelos y revisiones

Abstract

Se presenta aquí una revisión sobre las inscripciones íberas de tipo abecedario (textos con series de signos sin sentido lingüístico, normalmente un listado total o parcial de las letras de su escritura). Esta revisión presta una especial atención al método de la epigrafía comparada (con una discusión de los paralelos y sus usos habit uales), pero también intenta justificar y precisar mejor las funciones de estos abecedarios más allá de las consideraciones genéricas que se suelen repetir sin más. De la revisión se deriva también que alguna de las inscripciones publicadas como posible ab ecedario merece ser excluida del listado, mientras que otras sí podrían añadirse.

This paper presents a critical review of the Ancient Iberian inscriptions of the abece- daria type (texts consisting in series of signs without linguistic meaning; usually a com- plete or partial listing of the letters of its writing system). The review pays s pecial at- tention to the comparative epigraphy method (with a discussion of the parallels in other epigraphies and their usual purposes), but it also looks for a better rationale and a more specific determination of the purpose of these abecedaria, beyond t he recur- ring generic non specific considerations. This review concludes also that some of the inscriptions published as likely abecedaria should in fact being excluded from the list, while others should be included as abecedaria or as candidate to abecedaria
