Sentimiento, sinceridad y genio: la romantización de la teoría poética horaciana

Abstract

La teoría poética de Horacio se quiso hacer compatible con las ideas literarias desarrolladas entre los últimos años del siglo XVIII y la primera mitad del XIX, según una tendencia que revela una selección de textos de crítica literaria publicados durante ese periodo a lo largo de Europa. Su análisis ofrece una lectura que no ha sido hasta ahora observada y que pone a Horacio en relación con tres de los aspectos más representativos del Romanticismo: el sentimiento, la sinceridad y el genio.

Horace’s poetic theory became compatible with the literary ideas developed between the late 18th century and the first half of the 19th century, as revealed by selected pieces of literary criticism published throughout Europe during this period. Their analysis offers an interpretation that has not been noticed until now and which links Horace to three of the most representative aspects of Romanticism: feeling, sincerity and genius.
