Catedral de Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, su proceso evolutivo en el tiempo

Abstract

La arquitectura de valor patrimonial, como un acto de indiscutible permanencia en el tiempo, tiene la particularidad de ser el reflejo fiel del pensamiento humano y el transcurrir de su memoria histórica de generación en generación. La Catedral de Cartagena de Indias, pieza fundamental en los procesos de la colonización de almas en épocas virreinales, ha sido testigo de muchos acontecimientos, siendo a su vez objeto de múltiples transformaciones que han sido impronta de viejos tiempos y que han caracterizado su proceso evolutivo acorde a las dinámicas de la ciudad. En este artículo mostramos ese proceso y las modificaciones que le han aportado, no solo a su arquitectura, sino también al constructo social y la memoria histórica que ella representa para todos los cartageneros y Colombia en general.
