In the eschatological myth that closes the De facie, Plutarch continually refers to different groups of souls: those souls that just disincarnated and spend some time in the air between the earth and the moon, those that try to reach to moon and succeed, those that are rejected by the moon, then souls that are punished or rewarded depending on their behaviour in life, etc. The aim of this paper is to analyse the different categories and compare them with the rest of Plutarch’s work and with the literature of his time in order to help to reach a sounding understanding of the De facie.
