La misión fotográfica de Tomás Camarillo en Guadalajara: Patrimonio, paisaje y retrato

Abstract

La fotografía ha constituido desde su invención un medio privilegiado para registrar bienes patrimoniales y manifestaciones culturales. Este artículo estudia la obra de Tomás Camarillo (1879-1954), que testimonió de manera exhaustiva la provincia de Guadalajara, su naturaleza y cultura. Con el fin de estimar el valor de su aportación documental y creativa, se analizan fotografías y ejemplares inéditos. Dentro de su amplio repertorio visual, se presta especial atención a paisajes, vistas de pueblos, obras públicas, escenas costumbristas, retratos y manifestaciones del patrimonio inmaterial. También se reflexiona sobre los usos documentales, turísticos y políticos de la colección.

Photography has constituted since its invention a privileged means to capture heritage assets and cultural manifestations. This article studies the work of Tomás Camarillo (1879-1954), who exhaustively recorded the province of Guadalajara, its nature and culture. Copies and unpublished photographs are analyzed in order to estimate the value of his documentary and creative contribution. Within the wide visual repertoire, special attention is paid to landscapes, views of towns, public works, traditional scenes, portraits and intangible heritage manifestations. It also reflects on the documentary, tourist and political uses of the collection.
