The Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba: Evidence of column organization during their first construction s. VIII A.D

Abstract

In this article, we intend to classify the columns of the first constructed sector of the Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba to analyse possible clusters or to find a systematic organization of the columns. Through theuse of statistical methods (multivariate analysis and cluster analysis), topographic surveys and the use ofphotogrammetry in each column; several clusters of shafts that could belong to different buildings havebeen found. In addition, a column organization system has been found. This provides important data tothe construction system of the first mosque in Córdoba. The results obtained have opened a new line of research inside and outside the building.
