Abstract

La personalidad de Pablo de Olavide tiene distintas vertientes y muchos ámbitos de acción en las diferentes etapas de su vida: americana, española, exilio en Francia y retorno a España, hasta su muerte en 1803.

No obstante, profundizaremos especialmente en un aspecto muy concreto y determinante en su azarosa existencia: la fundación de las Nuevas Poblaciones de las que fue Superintendente y el proceso inquisitorial que le condenó, entendiendo que su condena tenía un carácter ejemplarizante para la minoría ilustrada que le apoyaba.

Howevwe, we will delve into a very specific aspect and determinant in its haphazard existence: the foundation of the New Populations of which he was Superintendent and the inquisitorial process that condemned him, understanding that his sentence had an exemplary character for the enlightened minority that supported him.
