Análisis del flujo de sementales retintos

Abstract

In Retinto Beef cattle breeding, a series of farms have stood out as leaders in animal production in the supply of sires to other farms. In this paper we have made an analysis of these outstanding farms in order to study the cattle production, the percentage repercussion in exportation and importation of the studs produced and the elite of their products as far as their number of offspring born and the average of points given by qualifiers. Of the 242 farms registered in the herdbook, 12 stand out for the number of sires produced and sent to other farms, which totals only 4.96 p.100. Nevertheless, of the 1308 studs registered in the herdbook, they have contributed 727 animals that represent some 70.04 p.100 of the core of sires. At the same time we should point out that they have acquired only 45 males for siring and this is equivalent to 3.44 p.100 of the total. When the overall pure-bred Retinto Beef cattle population is analysed, 51.65 p.100 of the calves are offspring of sires from one of the 12 farms, which means that, of the 39845 animals counted upto 1993, 20580 are offspring from these farms. Although the data refers only to prior to 1993, according to the census of studs used in artificial insemination, 9 of the 28 sires belonged to these élite farms, which supposes some 32.14 p.100. However their breeding production is much higher since 264 offspring born through artificial insemination were from 4 sires belonging to 4 other farms from the main core.

Se pretende hacer un análisis del flujode sementales procedentes de las más prestigiosas ganaderías de vacuno Retinto especializadas en el suministro de sementales a otras explotaciones. El objetivo es estudiar la producción ganadera, la repercusión porcentual de la exportación e importación de los sementales producidos y la calidadde sus productos en función al número de crías nacidas y a la media de las puntuaciones asignadas por los calificadores. De las 242 ganaderías que aparecen registradas en el Libro genealógico, sobresalen 12 explotaciones por la producción de reproductores machos aportados a otras ganaderías. Aunque sólo suponen un 4,96 p.100 del total de los 1308 sementales inscritos en el Libro genealógico, han aportado 727 animales, que representa un 70,04 p.100 del núcleo de machos reproductores. Así mismo, hay que destacar que sólo han adquirido 45 machos como sementales, lo que equivale a un 3,44 p.100 del total. Cuando se analiza el conjunto de la población de ganado vacuno retinto puro, el 51,65 p.100 de las crías son descendientes de los sementales producidos por alguna de las 12 ganaderías, es decir, de los 39845 animales censados hasta el año 1993, 20580 son hijos de sementales procedentes de esas ganaderías. Por último y aunque los datos son referidos hasta el 1993, al efectuar el censo de los sementales utilizados en inseminación artificial, se observaque 9 de los 28 machos reproductores pertenecen a las ganaderías de elite, lo que supone un 32,14 p.100, no obstante su producción ganadera es muy superior ya que 264 de las 570 crías, nacidas por inseminación artificial, son hijas de 4 sementales pertenecientes a otras 4 ganaderías del núcleo principal.
