La valoración como mecanismo de cohesión textual: el papel de los adjetivos

Abstract

El presente trabajo tiene por objetivo constatar si la valoración expresada en los adjetivos tiene un papel vertebrador en la organización del discurso. Para ello, se toma como metodología la Lingüística pragmática y un testimonio de discurso político como corpus. Los resultados confirman la hipótesis inicial: los locutores emplean los adjetivos valorativos en dinámicas (oposición entre valorativos positivos y negativos, acumulación de adjetivos negativos) que tienen un impacto en la configuración de la cohesión textual. Como consecuencia, se considera que la valoración no solo es una relación de discurso independiente, sino que puede confeccionar otro tipo de conexiones. Además, se observa que existe una diferencia entre el empleo de dinámicas en función del rol político (gobierno vs. oposición).

The aim of this paper is to determine whether theevaluation expressed in adjectives has a structuring role in the organization of discourse. For this purpose, pragmatic linguistics and a corpus of political discourse are used as a methodology. The results confirm the initial hypothesis: speakers use evaluative adjectives in dynamics (opposition between positive and negative evaluatives, accumulation of negative adjectives) that have an impact on the configuration of textual cohesion. As a consequence, it is considered that valuation is not only an independent discourse relation, but can also make other types of connections. Furthermore, it is observed that there is a difference between the use of dynamics depending on the political role (government vs. opposition).
