Estrategias de poder en el clero urbano hispalense en los siglos XVIII y XIX. El caso de las familias Paulín, Pérez de Baños y de la Barrera

Abstract

En el presente trabajo se analizan varias generaciones de miembros del cabildo catedral de Sevilla que pertenecieron a la familia Paulín-Pérez de Baños-De la Barrera. Estos apellidos formaron un mismo grupo familiar en Sevilla en los inicios del siglo XVIII y ha sido posible rastrearlo hasta finales del XIX en sus relaciones con el alto clero urbano. De esta manera, el objetivo de esta investigación es entender mejor las posibles estrategias de poder desarrolladas por grupos familiares en el Antiguo Régimen y comienzos del Nuevo, comprendiendo más profundamente los sistemas de colocación de parientes.

The present paper analyses several generations of members of the Cathedral Chapter of Seville who belonged to the Paulín-Pérez de Baños-De la Barrera family. These surnames formed part of the same family group in Seville at the beginning of the 18th century and it has been possible to trace them until the end of the 19th century in their relationships with the high urban clergy. This generates the goal of this research, to comprehend the possible power strategies developed by family groups in the Old Regime and the beginning of the New, understanding more deeply the systems of placement of relatives.
