Las obras pías durante el Antiguo Régimen. El ejemplo de Almansa: pleitos por la posesión del patronato del molino de las Barracas

Abstract

Las capellanías y los patronatos fueron un medio más para la promoción social de muchas familias de la hidalguía castellana. Su fundación implicaba una serie de obligaciones espirituales pero también un beneficio económico, lo que dio lugar a numerosos pleitos entre los descendientes de los fundadores. En estas páginas se estudia la fundación a principios del siglo XVI de un patronato laical en la villa de Almansa (Albacete) y los distintos litigios emprendidos por diferentes miembros del linaje de los fundadores hasta finales del siglo XVIII con el objetivo de hacerse con la propiedad de dicha memoria pía.

The chaplaincies and patronages were another means for the social promotion of many families of the Castilian nobility. Its foundation implied a series of spiritual obligations but also an economic benefit, which gave rise to numerous lawsuits between the descendants of the founders. The pages study the foundation at the beginning of the 16th century of a lay patronage in the town of Almansa (Albacete) and the different litigation undertaken by different members of the lineage of the founders until the end of the 18th century with the aim of taking over the property of said pious memory.
