Los Guàrdia de Xàtiva (XVII-XIX). Estrategias para enraizar en la ciudad

Abstract

A principios del siglo XVII se instala en Xàtiva un sedero francés, Dominique de la Garde: con los años construye una fortuna y da los primeros pasos para la instalación de la familia en la oligarquía local. El linaje deberá superar distintos retos a lo largo de sus seis generaciones de permanencia en la ciudad: la conformación de su patrimonio, la integración de los hijos ilegítimos en el núcleo familiar o su proyección cívica.

At the beginning of the 17th century, a french silk merchant, Dominique de la Garde, settles in Xàtiva: over the years he built up a fortune and took the first steps towards the installation of the family in the local oligarchy. The lineage will have to overcome different challenges throughout its six generations of permanence in the city: the conformation of its patrimony, the integration of the illegitimate children in the family nucleus or its civic projection.
