Análisis cuantitativo y cualitativo de las sibilantes en textos grancanarios del s. XVI

Abstract

En este trabajo pretendemos realizar un estudio cuantitativo y cualitativo de las sibilantes en textos grancanarios del s. XVI. Hemos analizado 29 textos heterogéneos de entre 1521 y 1587, en total 5740 sibilantes, para que nuestro corpus esté lo más cerca de la realidad lingüística de la isla que se pueda. Partiremos del sistema de tres pares de sibilantes con el que contó el español medieval (/t͡s/-/d͡z/, /s/-/z/ y /ʃ/-/ʒ/) para estudiar los procesos fonológicos (el ensordecimiento y después el reajuste) en el sistema de sibilantes y su reflejo en los textos de la Gran Canaria del siglo XVI. Del mismo modo, estos datos nos permitirán observar la nivelación de rasgos de los distintos grupos de pobladores que culminaría con el nacimiento del español de Canarias.

In this paper, we aim to conduct a quantitative and qualitative study of sibilants in 16th-century texts from Gran Canaria. We have analysed 29 heterogeneous texts from between 1521 and 1587, in total 5,740 sibilants, so that our corpus is as close as possible to the linguistic reality of the island. We will take as model the system of three pairs of sibilants that existed in medieval Spanish (/t͡s/-/d͡z/, /s/-/z/ and /ʃ/-/ʒ/) to study the phonological processes (deafening and then readjustment) in the sibilant system and their reflection in 16th-century Gran Canarian texts. Furthermore, these data will allow us to observe the levelling of linguistic features among the different groups of settlers, which would culminate in the birth of Canarian Spanish.
