Permanencias en tiempos de cambios: la jurisdicción en el Reino de Córdoba según el Catastro de Ensenada

Abstract

Esta colaboración pretende analizar la jurisdicción señorial y realenga a mediados del Setecientos, cuando ya podría estar pensándose en la progresiva modificación de su orden y organigrama organizativo por parte de algunos conspicuos ministros de la Ilustración española. Se parte para ello de un caso jugoso y bien representativo de la corona de Castilla, como es el reino de Córdoba, uno de los más homogéneos territorialmente y, por lo mismo, mantenido casi intacto en la actual provincia tras la reforma liberal, y de una fuente bien conocida, pero, para el objetivo que aquí se plantea, aún poco explotada, como es el catastro de Ensenada. Con ambos mimbres se cartografiará una cuestión medular de la organización política del Antiguo Régimen, sucesivamente modificada a lo largo del tiempo, y frecuente hontanar de rivalidades y conflictos; y se reflexionará sobre las competencias y obligaciones que le eran propias, prácticamente en el tránsito del Antiguo al Nuevo Régimen.

The aim of this paper is to analyse the seignorial and royal jurisdiction in the middle of the seventeenth century, when some conspicuous ministers of the Spanish Enlightenment could already be thinking about the progressive modification of its order and organisational structure. The starting point is a juicy and representative case of the Crown of Castile, the kingdom of Cordoba, one of the most territorially homogeneous and, for this reason, almost intact in the current province after the liberal reform, and the Ensenada cadastre, a well-known but, for the purpose of this paper, as yet little exploited source. With these two sources, we will map a central issue of the political organisation of the Ancien Régime, successively modified over time, and a frequent source of rivalries and conflicts; and we will reflect on the competences and obligations that belonged to it, practically in the transition from the Ancien Régime to the New Régime.
