Sin embargo, lejos de la forma cerrada del libro, la producción de Rodó estuvo marcada por su participación constante en publicaciones periódicas de diversa índole, desde diarios o semanarios hasta revistas culturales. El objetivo de este estudio es señalar algunos aspectos de la escritura rodoniana que serían impensables sin esa permanente articulación entre la prensa y la literatura que sostuvo su intervención, en tanto que intelectual, en el espacio público. En la construcción de su figura autoral, de ribetes magisteriales, fue crucial la complementariedad entre el libro y la prensa periódica. José Enrique Rodó’s name is inevitably associated with the essay Ariel, his most famous book. However, far away from the closed book form, Rodo’s writing is characterized by his continuous participation in different periodic publications, from newspaper or weekly papers to cultural journals. The aim of this article is to note some key aspects in Rodo’s writing due to the ongoing articulation between the press and the literature. That was the basis of his intellectual intervention in the public sphere.
