In this treatise, al-Fārābī refers to mental acquisition of certain elementary principles of knowledge
or cognitions that are the primary basis of any demonstrative process; and this means that cognitions,
which are in our intellect, are independent of all experience. The innate character of cognitions is treated
in his other works, as is their nature, e.g., whether they are content-ideas or dispositions.
