El presente trabajo aborda un tema a caballo entre la historia de las religiones y de
Egipto, como es el origen de la deidad sincrética Serapis y el posterior culto ligado
a la monarquía patrocinado por Ptolomeo II Filadelfo. Además, se verá el impacto
que tuvo esta deidad en el mundo grecorromano, haciendo especial hincapié en el
culto en la Península Ibérica. Para abordar un trabajo de esta índole, se analizarán
las principales obras de autores clásicos que traten sobre esta deidad, así como el
empleo de papiros, inscripciones epigráficas y restos arqueológicos. The present paper approaches a topic between the History of religions and Egypt, like the
origin of Serapis, a syncretic deity, and the subsequent worship linked to the monarchy,
sponsored by Ptolemy II Philadelphus. Furthermore, we will try to see the impact that
this deity had in Graeco-Roman world, emphasizing in Iberian Peninsula’s worships. For
addressing this issues, we will analyze the main literary works which mentions about
this deity, as well as the use of papyri, epigraphic sources and archeological remains.
