Terminología y traducción en contextos especializados (alemán-inglés-español): terrorismo global

Abstract

La presente tesis doctoral aborda el análisis del léxico y la terminología del ámbito del terrorismo desde una perspectiva traductológica. Esta investigación, estructurada en cuatro capítulos, parte del planteamiento y compilación de un corpus ad hoc trilingüe (alemán-español-inglés) constituido por documentos de carácter institucional que emanan, principalmente, del seno de la Unión Europea. Con ello, en primer lugar, se ha realizado una exposición teórica sobre los conceptos de ‘violencia’ y ‘terrorismo’. Seguidamente, se han contemplado los estudios en torno a la traducción y la terminología y el terrorismo internacional como una forma de violencia. A partir de ahí, siguiendo los presupuestos establecidos por el Modelo Lexemático Funcional (MLF), se han delimitado una serie de dominios y subdominios léxicos con el objeto de definir las relaciones ontológicas entre los distintos términos. Así, se estudia el evento [terrorismo] desde los dominios [organización], [tipología], [motivos], [métodos], [antiterrorismo], [jurisprudencia], [comunicación] y [víctimas]. Para ello, un total de 155 fichas terminológicas trilingües (en inglés, español y alemán) han sido elaboradas, en las que se reflejan los parámetros dispuestos en la primera parte del presente trabajo, la fundamentación teórica. Finalmente, se expone el grado de consecución de los objetivos planteados y se establecen las conclusiones pertinentes. La presente tesis doctoral, además de desarrollar los estudios sobre traducción y terrorismo y seguridad internacional, proporciona una herramienta para traductores e intérpretes, así como para profesionales que trabajan en la investigación o en la transferencia de información de contenido de índole terrorista.

This doctoral thesis focuses on the analysis of the terrorism lexicon and terminology from a translational perspective. Structured in four chapters, this research starts from the approach and compilation of a trilingual ad hoc corpus (German-English- Spanish) made up of institutional documents that emanate, mainly, from within the European Union. With this, in the first place, a theoretical presentation has been made on the concepts of ‘violence’ and ‘terrorism’. Subsequently, studies on translation and terminology and international terrorism have been considered as a form of violence. From there, following the assumptions established by the Functional-Lexematic Model (FLM), a series of lexical domains and subdomains have been delimited in order to define the ontological relationships between the different terms. In this sense, the event [terrorism] is studied from the domains [organization], [typology], [motives], [methods], [anti-terrorism], [jurisprudence], [communication] and [victims]. In order to achieve, a total of 155 trilingual terminology files have been prepared, which reflect the parameters provided in the first part of this work, the theoretical foundation. Finally, the degree of achievement of the proposed objectives is exposed and the pertinent conclusions are established. The present doctoral thesis, in addition to developing studies on translation and terrorism and international security, provides a tool for translators and interpreters, as well as for professionals who work in the investigation or transfer of information of a terrorist nature.
