We present the example of the Islamic city of Córdoba. This capital participates in a double urban process. On the one hand, it is a city of Roman origin, with an important historical role in late antiquity, which became the capital of the incipient Andalusian State. On the other hand, from the end of the 8th century the Islamic authorities began a new urban project that generated a new landscape. During the second half of the 10th century, the whole complex became a large conurbation, even more extensive than the current city, clearly inspired and promoted by Islamic society.
