dc.description.abstractThe aim of this paper is to set forth a few considerations about the relationship between Spain and the Mediterranean region. Within the context of the European Un ion it is we/1 known that the Mediterranean Dialogue has beco mean important issue based on the perception of the southern rim of the Mediterranean Basin as cause of international risk. Spain has c/early played a central role in many initiatives in the region o ver the Jast few decades: from the /aun eh of the so-ca/led Euro-Mediterranean Process, initiated in the Barcelona Conference of 1995, to the development of current governmental theories about the "AIIiance of Civilizations" which should affect this geopolítica/ context toa great extentes_ES
