La división y el conflicto interior de la voluntad humana, y su resolución en el amor, según Agustín de Hipona

Abstract

Se presenta la reflexión de Agustín sobre la voluntad humana como una aportación original. Se explica su concepción de la voluntad como acto (motus animi) y facultad del alma (vis animi). Luego, se plantea el problema de la división o escisión interior de la voluntad (dualidad, ambivalencia volitiva), y el conflicto entre las dos voluntades. Por último, se examina brevemente el amor (dilectio, caritas) como la «solución» al problema: la resolución del conflicto interior de la voluntad mediante el amor.

The Augustine’s doctrine on human will is proposed as an original contribution. His conception of will as act (motus animi) and power of the soul (vis animi) is explained. The main question is the inner division or breaking of the will (duality, ambivalent will), and the conflict between the two wills. Finally and shortly, we examine love (dilectio, caritas) as the Augustine’s «solution» (?) to this problem: the resolution of the inner conflict of the will through his transformation in love
