La traducción del texto digital usado como recurso narrativo en las series

Abstract

En los últimos años, la traducción audiovisual ha experimentado un auge considerable, al tiempo que la globalización y las nuevas necesidades de comunicación del siglo XXI han disparado la presencia de diferentes géneros digitales en series y películas. Así, se ha subrayado la necesidad de analizar el lenguaje de las nuevas tecnologías y también su traducción. El objetivo de este trabajo es contribuir a colmar la laguna bibliográfica existente sobre la traducción del texto digital que, en formatos tan variados como mensajes de correo electrónico, redes sociales o chats, se utiliza cada vez más como un recurso narrativo en las películas y series. Hemos recopilado un corpus bilingüe formado por el original en inglés y la versión oficial doblada al español de los diez capítulos de la primera temporada de la serie You (Berlanti y Gamble, 2018-2021). Tras analizar tanto la variedad de géneros digitales presentes como los procedimientos de traducción utilizados, hemos detectado que a menudo dichos procedimientos aparecen combinados de forma innovadora y no descrita anteriormente. Este trabajo podrá servir de referencia a los traductores profesionales ante esta nueva situación comunicativa que se está produciendo, del mismo modo que podrá ser utilizado en la clase de traducción a nivel universitario.

n recent years, audiovisual translation has undergone a considerable expansion, and globalization and the new communication needs of the 21st century have promoted the presence of different genres within movies and series. Therefore, the need to analyze the language of new technologies and also their translation has been underlined. The aim of this study is to help bridge the existing bibliographical gap on the translation of digital text which, in formats as different as e-mails, social networks and chats, is increasingly being used as a narrative resource within films and series. We have compiled a bilingual corpus which includes the original version in English and the dubbed version into Spanish from the ten chapters of the first season of You(Berlanti and Gamble, 2018-2021). After analyzing both the variety of digital genres as well as the applied translation strategies, we have noticed that those strategies are often combined in innovative ways that have not been previously described. This paper may be used as a reference for professional translators in this new situation that is emerging and also in the translation class at university.
