Palacio de los Duques de Medinaceli de Montilla. aproximación y análisis espacial

Abstract

El Palacio de los Duques de Medinaceli es una de las construcciones más antiguas y emblemáticas que se conservan en la localidad de Montilla. Este tipo de construcción señorial se realizó para los Marqueses de Priego, una de las familias nobles sobresalientes del Reino de Castilla, gracias en gran parte por la fama de Gonzalo Fernández de Córdoba, “El Gran Capitán”, hijo del V Señor de Priego y Aguilar, linaje agregado posteriormente al Ducado de Medinaceli. Su papel como soldado fue clave para la reconquista del reino de Granada además de la adhesión de numerosas poblaciones a la corona (Ruiz-Domènec, 2022). Actualmente el Palacio es una edificación completamente diferente de lo que era siglos atrás, tanto su estructura como su función. Solamente su fachada se encuentra en el entorno de protección del Convento de Santa Clara (Lista Roja del Patrimonio, 2022), estando la restante construcción en un estado deplorable de conservación debido a las modificaciones que se le han realizado por sus diferentes propietarios y usos diversos. De esta forma surge la investigación sobre este inmueble, para conseguir una mayor compresión de los espacios, a través de los diferentes estadios en los que se ha datado y su valor patrimonial para atraer el máximo interés. Este proceso se llevará a cabo a partir de un proyecto base para futuras intervenciones de los espacios adoptados y así establecer un dialogo entre la primigenia construcción respecto a la actualidad, identificada por sus respectivas planimetrías y visualización virtual 3D en 360º.

The Palace of the Dukes of Medinaceli is one of the oldest and most emblematic buildings preserved in the town of Montilla. This stately building was built for the Marquises of Priego, one of the outstanding noble families of the Kingdom of Castile, thanks to Gonzalo Fernández de Córdoba, “El Gran Capitán”, son of the 5th Lord of Priego and Aguilar, a lineage later added to the Duchy of Medinaceli. His role as a soldier was key to the reconquest of the kingdom of Granada as well as the accession of numerous towns to the Crown (Ruiz-Domènec, 2022). Today the Palace is a completely different building from what it was centuries ago, both in its structure and its function. Only its façade is in the protected environment of the Convent of Santa Clara (Lista Roja del Patrimonio, 2022). The rest of the building being is in a deplorable state of conservation due to the modifications that have been made by its different owners and various uses. Thus the research into this building arises, for a greater understanding of the spaces, through the different stages in which it has been dated and its value as a heritage of great interest to be rescued. This process will be carried out on the basis of a base project for future interventions in the adopted spaces and thus establish a dialogue between the former construction and the present and a possible reality, through their respective planimetries and virtual 3D visualisation.
