Algunas observaciones sobre la nariz aguileña: de D’Artagnan a Alatriste y de la fisonomía a la fisiognomía

Abstract

El presente artículo se centra en la nariz en la literatura y, en concreto, en la nariz aguileña tal como se perfila en el corpus narrativo de Arturo Pérez-Reverte, donde llama la atención su presencia, al menos en muchas de sus primeras novelas, y en varias otras obras literarias europeas que quizá sirvieron al escritor cartagenero de modelo o inspiración. No se trata de un estudio exhaustivo, sino más bien de una serie de observaciones sobre este tema, poco o casi nada estudiado, que acaso puedan dar pie a futuras investigaciones. Nos detendremos asimismo sobre un posible significado de este tipo de nariz, es decir, sobre una fisiognomía que se puede derivar de este rasgo fisonómico. Es un detalle discreto pero recurrente, llamativo para el lector atento. No se trata de un elemento casual y, por ello, cabría preguntarse cómo se ha de interpretar o qué significa.

This article focuses on the nose in literature and, specifically, on the aquiline nose as it is outlined in the narrative corpus of Arturo Pérez-Reverte, where its presence is striking, at least in many of his early novels, and in several other European literary works that perhaps served as a model or inspiration for the writer from Cartagena. This is not an exhaustive study, but rather a series of observations on this subject , little or hardly studied at all, that may perhaps give rise to future research. We will also dwell on a possible meaning of this type of nose, that is to say, on a physiognomy that can be derived from this physiognomic trait. It is a discreet but recurrent detail, striking to the attentive reader. It is not a casual element and, therefore, one might ask how it should be interpreted or what it means.
