Se realiza una revisión de la literatura sobre el concepto y contenido empírico del capital social, señalando la contribución de la Economía Institucional para abordar el estudio del tema. Para esta escuela, los procesos históricos por los cuales se establece el marco institucional contienen la explicación de las diferencias en los órdenes sociales y en la conformación de los activos culturales que conforman el capital social

This is a review of the literature on the concept and the empirical content of social capital, noting the contribution of Institutional Economics to the study of the subject. For this school, the historical processes by which the institutional framework is established contain the explanation of the differences in social orders and in the shaping of cultural assets that make up the social capital.
