Canticum Amabile Senectutis

Abstract

Siguiendo el modelo del Cato mayor de senectute liber, de Cicerón, éste pone en boca de Catón el Viejo su parecer sobre la senectud, consi-derándola simplemente como una etapa más de la vida, refutando los cuatro argumentos que la denostan. Basándome en doscientos variopin-tos personajes mayores de ochenta años y aceptando el tono festivo que pueda entreverse, asumo la postura catoniana.

Following the model of the Cato major of senectute liber, of Cicerón, this one puts in Cato the Elder's mouth his opinion on the seneness, considering it simply like a more stage of the life, refuting the four argu-ments that denost it. Based on two hundred people who are over eighty years old and accepting the festive tone that can be glimpsed, I assume the Catatonian position
