Los judíos, transmisores y receptores de la sabiduría medieval

Abstract

La cuestión de Ia transmisión de los saberes en el mundo medieval entre los judíos se aborda desde una doble perspectiva, de un !ado los judíos como correa de esta transmisión entre distintas culturas y del otro Ia transmisión hacia dentro, hacia las propias comunidades hebreas, siendo aquí el papel de los judíos el de transmisores y el de receptores a un mismo tiempo. El recorrido abarca un largo período, desde el s.VIII basta finales del XV y se extiende desde Bagdad basta el sur de Europa.

The transmission of philosophy and sciencie in the Jewish communities of the Middle Ages can be approached from two perspectives. From one, the Jews are seen as the conveyors of knowledge between different cultures, and from another as transmitters amongst the various Hebrew communities, giving the Jewish peo-ple the dual role of transmitters as well as receptors. In this paper we analyze both of them in an extensive pe1iod: from the VIII century until the late XV, and with a geographical range stretching from Baghdad t9 southern Europe
