Requisitos formales de la volición: posibilidad y límite para un régimen autónomo de la acción personal en la filosofía de Francisco Suárez

Abstract

Partiendo de una reducción del concepto de persona a una de sus notas más características, cual es, la libertad, proponemos una revisión de la teoría del libre arbitrio expuesta por Francisco Suárez, atendiendo con exclusividad a sus escritos epistemológicos y metafísicos más significativos. La extensión de la cuestión nos impele a reducir la empresa a sus aspectos formales. Partiendo de la comparación de las potencias cognoscitivas superiores de la persona, descendemos hasta las condiciones necesarias para la disposición de la acción libre. Vienen a imbricarse en el estudio de la libertad, el problema del determinismo, tanto del entendimiento sobre la voluntad, como de la eficiencia divina sobre la humana. Atenderemos a las fórmulas de las que se valió el Eximio, para afirmar la libertad personal sobre aquéllos condicionantes
