Una aproximación al sentido de la filosofía en el Renacimiento del siglo XII

Abstract

La pregunta por el sentido de la filosofía en Adelardo de Bath no puede reducirse a una identificación del personaje «Philosophia» en el tratado de Adelardo de Bath Sobre lo idéntico y lo diferente, es decir, no ser reducido a una recopilación «escolar» de las artes del trivium y quadrivium. Pues, aunque en forma de «protrepticon», su exposición sobre las artes apunta mucho más allá de lo que podría ser considerado un conocimiento elemental, tanto de los útiles que cualquier buen «maestro» tenía ante sus manos, como de los temas tratados habitualmente en las «escuelas» francesas. La concepción de la <<filosofía» en Adelardo apunta una renovación que va a determinar, al menos en parte, un estilo y unas actitudes generales, que la interpretación histórica ha coincidido en distinguir como «Renacimiento del siglo doce».

The meaning of <<Philosophy» in 12th century Renaissance>>. The question about the meaning of philosophy cannot be reduced to a recognition of the character of «Philosophy» in Adelard of Bath's treatise. On the same and the different, i.e., not to be reduced to a scholar compilation on the trivium and quadrivium. Even when the work adopts the form of a «protrepticon», its exposition on the «arts» points further than what we can take as an elementary knowledge, not just in the skills a «master» should got at hand, but also in the subject matters taken regularly in the so called drench schools». Adelard's conception of philosophy points to a renewal which, in a sense, is going to be an example of a new attitude on knowledge that the history of intellect has ascribe to the stream of changes attributed to the <<Renaissance of the 12th C>>.
