Egidio Romano, Proclo e il Liber de causis

Abstract

L'articolo esamina alcuni aspetti centrali della ricezione dell'Elementatio theologica di Proclo nel commento al Liber de causis di Egidio Romano, redatto alla fine del tredicesimo secolo. In particolare, il contributo tratta della ricezione egidiana della filosofia di Proclo in relazione alla struttura neoplatonica del Liber de causis, mettendo in evidenza alcune differenze teoretiche tra l'interpretazione di Egidio e quella di Tommaso d'Aquino.

This article examines pivotal aspects of the reception of Proclus' Elementatio theologica in the commentary on the Liber de causis written by Giles of Rome at the end of the 13th century. The article examines Giles's understanding of Proclus’s philosophy in relation to the Neoplatonic framework of the Liber de causis, and shows how this understanding accounts for the theoretical divergences of Giles's and Thomas Aquinas's interpretations.
