La física de lo bello y la armonía»: H. C. Ørsted y la prensa española del siglo XIX

Abstract

En 1820 el danés H. C. Ørsted constató experimentalmente la existencia del electromagnetismo. Este descubrimiento supuso el inicio de una época de grandes avances científicos y técnicos. A lo largo de las últimas décadas se ha debatido sobre los fundamentos filosóficos que posibilitaron el experimento de Ørsted. En este artículo se hace un repaso de la influencia que sobre Ørsted tuvieron Kant, Schelling y los Naturphilosophen, y sus lazos con el romanticismo danés. Posteriormente, se examina la presencia de Ørsted en la prensa española, y se analiza cómo el tratamiento de su figura pudo ayudar a la difusión en España de la filosofía y la estética alemana.

In 1820, danish physicist H. C. Ørsted experimentally proved the existence of electromagnetism. This breakthrough was followed by significant scientific and technical progress. The philosophical principles that made Ørsted’s experiment possible have been discussed over the last few decades. This article reviews both the influence of Kant, Schelling and the Naturphilosophen on Ørsted, and his links to the Danish Golden Age. Subsequently, it examines the presence of Ørsted in the Spanish press, and analyses how the treatment of his figure could have advanced the circulation of German philosophy and aesthetics in Spain.
