La necrópolis tardoantigua del sector oriental de Cartagena

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to present the new late antique necropolis of Cartagena, which is located inside the old Roman town. Two phases of use are distingued in the cemetery, whose characteristics are studied. Thus, we analyse the different types of tomb, the funerary offerings, and the ritual aspects. Also, the analyse of the internal dynamic of this necropolis, gives us reason to considerer other problems about the urbanism. We think that the necropolis must be dated between the fifth and seventh centuries A.D.

El objetivo de este artículo es presentar la nueva necrópolis tardoantigua de Cartagena, localizada dentro de la antigua ciudad romana. Se diferencian en el cementerio dos fases de utilización, cuyas características se estudian. Así, analizamos los diferentes tipos de tumba, los ajuares, y los aspectos rituales. También, el análisis de la dinámica interna de esta necrópolis, nos permite considerar otros problemas acerca del urbanismo. Creemos que el conjunto debe datarse entre los siglos V y VII d.C.
