L’Immoraliste: un libertaire

Abstract

Este artículo, desarrollado a partir de una cita de Colin Nettelbeck acerca de la pertinencia de este libro en la época contemporánea, trata del individualismo del personaje de L’Immoraliste, Michel, y pretende revisar su personalidad para definir de nuevo su inmoralismo. Siguiendo las ideas contemporáneas de Gide, el individualismo y el anarquismo, este trabajo se propone mostrar las aspiraciones libertarias de su autor, así como su perennidad y la importancia actual de la novela.

Based on Nettelbeck’s comment on L’Immoraliste, questioning the need for such a book, this article re-visits the main character of the novel, Michel and attempts to define the traits that identify him. Focusing on individualism and anarchism as trends contemporary to Gide, it aims at proving the relevance of such a book in today’s world and to shed yet a new light on the libertarian aspirations of its author.
