We try to compare some of the most relevant topics that are found in the philosophy of two mediaeval and jewish authors: Ibn Gabirol and Maimonides. They are topics such as «finite-infinite», «matter-form», «emanation», and so on. The comparison has a purpose: to show that, in spite of the «slight» differences, both philosophies share a beat that is more common than it has been pointed so far. On the Other hand, this is an attempt to recover Maimonides as a real philosopher, not in a snese based on the idea of «mediaeval philosophy-theology», but in a sense that leads him beyond in the western thought.
