De la etimología antigua a la actual

Abstract

Para comprender el sentido de Las Etimologías de san Isidoro se estudia la etimología en Grecia, la etimología en Varrón, su paso a topos retórico en Quintiliano y Cicerón. Sobre ese fundamento se analiza la teoría etimológica isídoriana. A partir de aquí se estudian los diversos modos como ha sido considerada la etimología. Búsqueda de sus posible antecedentes hebraicos, el concepto de raíz en la gramática comparada, grandeza y miseria de este análisis y tendencias actuales.

With the purpose of understanding the sense of The Etymologies by Saint lsidorus, an approach is made to etymology in Plato, in Varro, the evolution of it to rhetorical topoi in Quintilianus and Cícero. The lsidorian etymological theory is analyzed in this light. This is a starting point for the research on the various ways of approaching etymology. Also here is the search for possible Hebrew antecedents, the concept of root in historícal comparative grammar, which is the greatness and misery of this analysis, and lastly today's state of the art.
