dc.description.abstract | This work deals with the “Roman noir” (the “whodunit” genre) in France after the father of the ‘roman policier’ (“French police novel”), Émile Gaboriau, made it popular in the land of the Gauls in the first half of the twentieth century. Part of the international recognition it received was due to two of its famous and extremely charismatic characters, Arsène Lupin and Rouletabille, created by Maurice Leblanc and Gaston Leroux. The work of Léo Malet, while also true to the whodunit literary genre and the police suspense novel, takes place in an atmosphere where it is the city, the night, alcohol and violence that play an outstanding role, thus creating a universe that diverges from that of the “hardboiled private eye”. This is why Malet is considered the pioneer of the “roman noir” in France. | es_ES |
| es_ES |
