Informe de la intervención arqueológica de urgencia en la calle Adarve nº 2 (Córdoba)

Abstract

Archaeological monitoring of earth-shifting operations on the building site at number 2, Adarve Street focussed on the discovery, previously recorded during the Emergency Archaeological Intervention, of a Roman funeral chamber and a series of non-connected structures requiring archaeological registration. The North end of the site additionally contains one of the few standing stretches of the Medieval city wall of Cordoba. The results of monitoring were successful, in that a funeral structure and a cremation tomb dating from the first century A.D. were discovered; both of these are related to Córdoba’s northem necropolis.

El Seguimiento Arqueológico del vaciado de tierras del solar Adarve nº 2 viene determinado por la documentación, durante la I.A.U., de un espacio funerario de época romana y de una serie de estructuras inconexas entre sí que necesitaban registrarse arqueológicamente. Además, el solar conserva en su lado Norte uno de los pocos tramos, aún en pie, de la muralla medieval de Córdoba. Los resultados del Seguimiento fueron positivos ya que se constató una estructura de carácter funerario y una tumba de incineración -siglo I d C.- que se relacionan con la necrópolis septentrional de Córdoba.
